Eligible individuals are encouraged to apply online for positions as Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS) [Branch Postmaster (BPM)/Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM)] in Branch Post Offices (BOs) established in 2023. India Post has issued an official announcement for Post Office GDS openings, inviting qualified 10th pass applicants to register for 12828 jobs for Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS), Branch Postmasters (BPM), and Assistant Branch Postmasters (ABPM)/Dak Sevak (Special Cycle). India Post is a government-run postal system in India with 23 circles that is part of the Ministry of Communications' Department of Post. On March 21, 2023, the Post Office GDS Recruitment 2023 was made available at www.indiapostgdsonline.gov.in. RESERVATION: (a) GDS engagement will be subject to the Department of Posts' instructions on the reservation of SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwD categories. Applicants should read the following guidelines, which are available on the Department's official website:

(i) No. 19-11/97-ED & TRG dated November 27, 1997 

ii) No. 17-08/2017-GDS dated February 26, 2019 

(iii) No. 17-08/2017-GDS dated June 2, 2022

(a) The following disabilities are permissible for PwD applicants:


AGE LIMITATIONS: 

(i) Tminimum age is 18 years.

Maximum age: 40 years [subject to relaxations as specified in subparagraph (a) below].

(a) Lowering of the upper age limit:


(ii) Age shall be calculated as of the application deadline, which is June 11, 2023. 

(b) Certification Process and Certificate Format: Applicants who desire to be considered for reserved openings or age relaxation must submit the required certificate from the competent authorities in the specified format. If they do not comply, their candidature will be revoked. 

(c) The upper age restriction for EWS candidates shall not be relaxed. Persons from the EWS who are not covered by the reservation plan for SC, ST, and OBC would, nonetheless, be given 10% preference in hiring for GDS positions.

QUALIFICATION AS OF THE NOTIFICATION DATE:
 
(1) EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION: 
(a) Secondary School Examination pass certificate of 10th standard having passed in Mathematics and English (having been studied as compulsory or elective subjects) conducted by any recognised Board of 3 School Education in India shall be a mandatory educational 
qualification for all approved categories of GDS.

(b) The candidate must have studied the local language, i.e. (Name of Local Language), at least up to the Secondary level [as a required or elective course]. 

(2). OTHER EXPERIENCE:- 
(i) Computer knowledge 
(ii) Cycling knowledge
(iii) Sufficient means of subsistence 

CRITERIA FOR SELECTION: 

(i) Applicants will be shortlisted for engagement  based on a system-generated merit list.

(ii) The Merit list shall be compiled on the basis of marks obtained/conversion of Grades/Points to marks (as indicated in sub paragraphs iii to ix below) in  Secondary School Examinations of 10th grade of authorised Boards aggregated to percentage to the precision of four decimals. All topics must be passed according to the relevant recognised board requirements

(iii) For applicants whose Secondary School Examination of 10th standard mark sheet contains the marks as mentioned in each subject or marks and Grade/Points both, their total marks will be calculated by taking into account all compulsory and elective/optional subjects (other than extra subjects, if any). This ensures that candidates with higher grades are chosen.

(iv) Applicants with both marks and grades on their marks sheet must apply with only marks. If an applicant submits an application using grades rather than marks, his or her application will be disqualified. However, if only grades are stated in the mark sheet for any particular topic (s), then only grades can be mentioned and must not be converted to marks by the applicants.

(v) For candidates with just subject grades, marks will be calculated for each subject (compulsory and optional courses but not supplementary subjects) using the multiplication factor of 9.5 as follows:

(vi) In the event of mark lists including Grades/Points, marks will be computed by converting Grades and Points with the multiplication factor (9.5) against the maximum number of points or grade as 100. 

(vii) If a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) is supplied, the marks shall be calculated by multiplying the CGPA by 9.5. When provided individual grades in each subject as well as a CGPA, the highest of the two marks is selected. It is to emphasise that applicants are not obliged to convert their points/grades into marks and must simply specify the grades/points while completing online applications. The system would convert grades/points to marks prior to declaring the results in order to determine merits.

(viii) In case of tie amongst applicants, the merit would be decided on the basis of following priority order:-
 
"DOB (Older in age), ST trans-woman, ST female, SC transwoman, SC female, OBC trans-woman, OBC female, EWS transwoman, EWS female, UR trans-woman, UR female, ST trans-male, ST Male, SC trans-male, SC Male, OBC trans-male, OBC male, EWS trans-male, EWS male, UR trans-male, UR male.In the event of a 'Tie', the Department would have the liberty and alone right to insert any new criterion to decide the merit. The Department's decision shall be final.

(ix) Applications with incomplete data will be rejected. If an applicant submits incorrect or unneeded papers, his or her nomination will be denied.

(x) If, during the verification of documents following an applicant's shortlisting, the data/marks supplied into the Portal are discovered to be mismatched with authentic documents, his/her candidature will be denied, even if there is a minor spelling error in the applicant's name, father/mother name, etc.

(xi) Selected candidates will be required to provide an undertaking in the manner attached as Annexure-VI regarding liability in the event of providing false/incorrect information/details in the form.

బ్రాంచ్‌ పోస్టు మాస్టర్‌(BPM) పోస్టుకు ఎంపికైనవారు సంబంధిత బ్రాంచ్‌ కార్యకలాపాలు పర్యవేక్షించాలి. పోస్టల్‌ విధులతోపాటు ఇండియా పోస్టు పేమెంట్‌ బ్యాంకు వ్యవహారాలూ చూసుకోవాలి. రికార్డుల నిర్వహణ, ఆన్‌లైన్‌ లావాదేవీలు, రోజువారీ కార్యకలాపాలు సజావుగా సాగేలా, ఉత్తరాలు పంపిణీ జరిగేలా చూసుకోవాలి. తపాలాకు సంబంధించిన మార్కెటింగ్‌ వ్యవహారాలూ చక్కబెట్టాలి. టీమ్‌లీడర్‌గా సంబంధిత బ్రాంచ్‌ను నడిపించాలి. పోస్టల్‌ పథకాలను ప్రజల వద్దకు తీసుకెళ్లాల్సిన బాధ్యత ఉంటుంది.
