PROSPECTUS-CUM-NOTIFICATION FOR LATERAL ENTRY ADMISSION IN CLASS XI (2023-24)
Last Date to apply for Selection Test: 31stMay, 2023
Online applications are being accepted from qualified students for admission to Class XI solely against empty seats in JNVs for the academic year 2023-24. Admission will be granted based on a selection exam administered by an external organisation in accordance with NVS policy. 
 Eligibility to Apply
1. The candidate's birthday must fall between June 1st, 2006 and July 31st, 2008 (both days included). This applies to all types of applicants, including. Those who belong to one of the Scheduled Castes or Tribes. Candidates who passed class X prior to the 2022-23 session are ineligible.
2.  During the academic session 2022-23 (April 2022 to March 2023 session) / 2022 (January to December 2022 session), the candidate must have completed Class X from a Govt./ Govt.   recognised school (affiliated to CBSE or any other State Education Board/ other Govt. recognised Board) in the District where the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya is located.
3. Only Indian nationals who completed Class X in India may apply. 
Criteria for selecting candidates for admission to Class XI based on available seats
1. Students will be selected for admission based on available seats in JNVs in Class XI for the academic year 2023-24.
2 Vacant seats in Class-XI shall be filled through the lateral entrance test after accepting students who studied Class-X in JNVs during the term 2022-23, subject to the availability of accommodation at the JNV concerned.
3 The unfilled seats in the Rural/Girl/SC/ST/Divyang categories shall be filled by applicants from those categories. If suitable candidates are not available, unfilled seats shall be filled in accordance with NVS guidelines.
4.Following the completion of the selection exam, students will be provisionally selected as follows:
a) A district-based merit list will be created, and students will be temporarily selected for the available positions. The dual requirements of Class-X residency and study from the district  in question shall be considered under the district-wise merit list for replacing empty seats.
b) Following the selection of students for openings in the district's JNV, a common merit list will be established at the state level. Following step a), vacancies in any of the JNVs of the  same State will be filled from the State level merit list based on merit and the choice chosen by the candidate.
c) Candidates from one state are ineligible to apply for admission in another.
5 Qualified students are temporarily selected for class XI admission in JNVs based on merit, categories, openings in the chosen JNV, and streams as determined by the selection criteria. If you are chosen for a JNV and a stream against vacancies, you will not be able to modify your JNV or stream.
6 NVS is entitled to make decisions on filling vacancies in any JNV / Stream, if any exist, based on administrative needs, including the accommodation available in the JNV in question.
7 The Principal of the relevant JNV will notify the chosen pupils by SMS/Speed post.
8 In addition to obtaining a medical certificate, newly accepted students must undergo a medical examination by the Vidyalaya Doctor. Students with contagious diseases or significant  illnesses will not be accepted.
9 A ten-day orientation session will be planned for newly accepted students in order to bridge learning gaps and prepare them for their new surroundings.
CANDIDATES FROM THE RURAL AND THE URBAN
A candidate who completed Class X at a rural school will be deemed a rural candidate, and his or her candidature will be considered under both the open and rural quotas.
A candidate who attended class X at a school in an urban region, even for a single day, will be regarded an urban candidate. Urban areas are specified by any government notice as of the final day for submitting an application for a selection exam. All other places are considered rural.
SEATS RESERVATION
The Class XI lateral entrance selection test is held to fill the vacant seats that are projected to be available in JNVs during the academic year 2023-24 after admitting students who studied in JNVs in Class X. Candidates from the same category will fill vacant seats in several categories such as rural/girl/SC/ST/Divyang. If suitable candidates are not available,  unfilled seats shall be filled in accordance with NVS guidelines.
There is no distinct reservation for transgender candidates, and they will be included in the Boys category for quota purposes, under several subcategories such as Rural, Urban, OBC, SC, ST, and Divyang.

8. Date of Class-XI Lateral Entry Selection Test - 2023 and Last Date to Apply The Lateral Entry Selection Test for admission to Class-XI in JNVs against the vacant seats, which are likely 
to be available in JNVs for the academic session 2023-24 will be held on Saturday, 22nd July 2023 at 11.00 A.M.
The deadline for submitting an online application is May 31, 2023. The correction window will be open on June 1st and 2nd, 2023. 

How to Apply for Admission to Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Class XI
The candidate can apply online immediately on the NVS website at www.navodaya.gov.in.
Registration for the Lateral Entry Selection Test 2023 (Only Online)
The application procedure for the class XI Lateral Entry Selection Test has been streamlined through an online method. Registration is free and may be done using the NVS application portal, which is accessible at www.navodaya.gov.in.
Candidates/parents must read the announcement and prospectus to verify they meet the qualifying requirements. Please keep in mind that the selection exam is solely for the expected vacant seats, which are subject to availability at the JNV in question.

Candidates' basic information, such as state (residence and study), district (residence and study), Aadhaar number, and so on, must be entered into the application portal.
 While filling out the application form on the web site, each candidate is allowed to select a maximum of two streams. The applicant may select up to three JNVs in the order of choice for each stream. Candidates may select a stream/JNV from the options displayed on the web portal. The provisional selection of candidates for admission to Class XI will be dependent on the number of openings in the JNV/stream in question. Only applications for empty seats in JNVs are being gathered in order to conduct tests. As a result, candidates have no authority to seek admission based on

All attempts are to be taken to present proper information in the portal, which may be proved at the time of admission after selection with supporting papers, in JNV along with candidate and needed documents such as photograph and signature of both applicant and his/her parent. Admission of provisionally selected students is conditional on passing Class-X (Session 2022-23) and submitting the necessary supporting documents as specified by the candidate/parent in the online application form.
The correction window for modifying information in the specified fields will be open on the 1st and 2nd of June 2023, after the submission deadline.

The application form.
It is hereby communicated to all concerned that verification of proofs of District residence, age, pass certificate, eligibility including district of study, category (Rural/urban & OBC, SC, ST, Divyang), etc. as per norms will be carried out for all provisionally selected candidates following the announcement of results using the established procedure. Admission will be confirmed following verification.

Admit Cards are distributed.
The admission cards will be made accessible as soon as NVS decides, which will be presented on the application page (preferably on July 1st, 2023). Before the Lateral Entry Selection Test, candidates/parents will be able to download their admission cards for free.

ABOUT THE SELECTION TEST 
a) Examination Centre
i. Each applicant must attend for the selection test at the testing centre designated on the Admit Card. No candidate from any other centre is authorised to appear. No requests for centre changes will be considered. No applicant may take the selection exam unless they have a valid Admit Card. Admit cards may be retrieved from the NVS, HQ website - www.navodaya.gov.in - via the application portal.
ii. At the time of the selection exam, the candidate must present a valid ID issued by any government agency.
iii. At the time of verification by the invigilator at the test centre, the photo on the Admit Card must be matched with the candidate.
The question paper's medium
Candidates will be given a bilingual (English and Hindi) question paper.
d) The Test's Composition
The selection exam will last two and a half hours, from 11:00 a.m. to 01:30 p.m., and will consist of five parts with solely objective type questions. There are 100 questions totaling 100 points.
Each applicant will be handed a single exam booklet including all five parts. According to government regulations, "Divyang students" (differently abled pupils) would be given an additional 50 minutes. Syllabus

Streams and criteria for selection
Candidate must get the minimum qualifying marks, i.e. 06 out of 20 as per NVS requirements, in all 05 topics. The merit list, on the other hand, will be constructed on the basis of marks received in several subjects according to the following criteria (out of 60):

When the merit list is prepared for selecting the candidates provisionally, in addition to
sectional cut off, overall cut off out of 60 will also be considered as per the following details.
1. For Gen/ OBC Boys : 21
2. For Gen/ OBC Girls : 20
3. For SC/ST/Divyang candidates : 18
DOCUMENTS REQUIRED AFTER SELECTION
Parents of provisionally chosen applicants for admission to class XI via lateral entry selection test must present the following documents for verification at the time of admission: -
 i. Proof of date of birth - A copy of the Birth Certificate issued by the relevant Government Authority.
ii. Proof of eligibility in accordance with the NVS requirements.
iii. For applicants seeking admission under the rural quota, parents must additionally provide a certificate from the District Administration's competent authority stating that the kid  completed class X at a rural institution or school.
iv. Residence Certificate: 
The parent's legitimate residency evidence (as notified by the Government of India).
v. Candidate Aadhaar Card: According to Section 7 of the Aadhaar Act, 2016, the provisionally selected candidate must produce a copy of their Aadhaar Card.
vi. A certificate from the school's Head Master detailing the study information.
vii. A certificate of medical fitness from the appropriate authorities.
viii. Certificate of Disability (if appropriate)
ix. If appropriate, a category/community certificate (SC/ST).

Online applications are invited from eligible students for admission to Class XI against the vacant seats likely to be available in JNVs during the academic year 2020 Admission will be made on the basis of performance of students in Class X Board Examinations by CBSE / State Education/ other recognized Board.

Eligibility Criteria:

Objectives of JNV:

The main objectives of Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti as set forth in the Memorandum of Association are:
  1. To provide good quality modern education including a strong component of culture, inculcation of values, awareness of the environment, adventure activities and physical education to the talented children predominantly from the rural areas, without regard to their family’s socio-economic condition.
  2. To ensure that all students of Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti attain a reasonable level of competence in three languages as envisaged in Three Language Formula.
  3. To serve, in each district, as focal point for improvement in the quality of school education in general, through sharing of experiences and facilities, and
  4. To promote national integration through migration of students from Hindi to nonHindi speaking State and vice-versa.


How to apply for admission in Class-XI in JNV


  1. The candidate can fill the online application form directly on NVS website www.navodaya.gov.in from 13th August 2020. 
  2. While education in the schools is free including boarding, lodging, uniforms and textbooks, a nominal fee is collected from the students of ClassesIX to XII only as per NVS policy. 
  3. However, children belonging to SC/ST, Girls and from families whose income is below poverty line (BPL) are exempted from payment of fee. 
  4. The last date to apply is 31th August 2020.
