How to update date of birth on Aadhaar card?

Incorrect Date of Birth on Aadhar Card? Here's how you can update your D.O.B on Aadhar Card Online/Offline by following these simple steps at Moneycontrol

Step 1. Visit the Aadhaar Self Service Update Portal
Step 2. If you have valid address proof click on “Update Address” else “Request for Address Validation Letter”
Step 3. In the new window (https://ssup.uidai.gov.in/web/guest/update), enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number
Step 4. Enter the text verification code in the box and click on Send OTP or Enter TOTP
Step 5. An OTP will be sent to the mobile number registered in UIDAI’s database.
Step 6. Enter this OTP to login to your Aadhaar account
Step 7. Alternately, you can use the TOTP feature to authenticate
Step 8. Tick the Address option and click on the Submit button
Step 9. Enter your residential address mentioned in the Proof of Address (PoA) and click on the “Submit Update Request” button
Step 10. In case you want to modify your address, click the “Modify” option
Step 11. Now tick the declaration and click on the “Proceed” button
Step 12. Select the document type you want to submit as PoA for verification and upload the scanned copy of the address proof and click on the “Submit” buttonStep 13. Click on the “Yes” button and select the BPO service provider that will verify your details and click on Submit
Step 14. The BPO service provider inspects if the details mentioned in the form matches with the POA and forward your request to UIDAI. Your update request is then accepted and an Acknowledgement Slip is provided to you

The Acknowledgement Slip contains the Update Request number (URN). Once updated, you can download the updated version and get your Aadhar card print out.

How to Update Address in Aadhaar without Document Proof:

People who do not have a valid address proof can update their current residential address in Aadhaar as well. The new facility of “Address Validation Letter” allows the applicant to update the address in Aadhaar card through a validator. The address in the Aadhaar card of the validator is updated in the applicant’s Aadhaar after the process is completed successfully. You have to follow the steps mentioned below to update address in Aadhaar card using the Address Validation Letter:

The process consists of 3 steps-
  1. Application by the applicant
  2. Approval by the Verifier
  3. Final Submission by the applicant
Application by the Applicant

Step 1. Click on “Updated your Address online”
Step 2. Click on the “Request for Aadhaar Validation Letter” button
Step 3. Now enter your Aadhaar number and click on Send OTP or Enter TOTP
Step 4. Now enter the address verifier’s Aadhaar number and click on submit
Step 5. Your request will be submitted and a message will be sent to the registered mobile number of the verifier

Approval by the Verifier

The verifier gets an SMS containing the OTP and link to verify the applicant’s request on the mobile number registered with UIDAI He has to click on the link in the SMS and login to the account. He has to enter the OTP received in the space provided and confirm the request of the applicant

Final Submission by the Applicant

Once the verifier approves the request of the applicant, an SMS is sent to the applicant on the registered mobile number with the SRN and the link to submit the application
Enter the SRN and OTP received through SMS
Step 6. Verify the details and click on “Submit Update Request” to complete the application process
Step 7. Once approved, the verifier’s address will be updated in the applicant’s Aadhaar card.

How to Change the DOB in Aadhaar Card:
You can change your Date of birth in Aadhar card by three methods. They are:

ONLINE METHOD

You will be able to perform Aadhar card DOB correction online, only if you have a registered mobile number linked to your Aadhar number. This is because, during the correction, an OTP (One Time Password) will be sent to your mobile for verification.

The UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) has made it simple for you to change your date of birth in Aadhar through their online portal. You have to follow these steps:
  1. Visit the official website of UIDAI to correct the details of your date of birth.
  2.  Click on the Update Aadhar Card details within the Aadhar Online Services. The page will redirect you to the Aadhar Self Service Update Portal.
  3. Then you have to enter your 12-digit Aadhar card number.
  4. Enter the text verification captcha code in the box and click on the button below to send the OTP to your mobile.
  5. After receiving the OTP on your phone, enter it in the box to login to your Aadhar account.
  6. After logging in, select DOB for Aadhar card DOB correction online.
  7. Fill in the correct date and click on the submit button.
  8. Then you have to select a valid proof of identification. Upload the documents for verification and click on submit button.
  9. You will then have to select the BPO service provider to complete the request for an update. The BPO provider verifies the details of the documents uploaded by you.
  10. Note down the ‘Update Request Number’ (URN) that you will receive on your mobile number. You can use it to track the status of your update request.
OFFLINE METHOD

You can change the date of birth information in your Aadhar card by visiting the nearest Enrolment Centre. The steps you need to take are:

• First, access the official UIDAI website and click on the ‘Update Aadhar’ at Enrolment/Update Centre option.
• You can then search for the enrolment centres nearby in the search box by postal code and state name.
• Then select the state, sub-district and district and city/ village/ town. Enter the captcha code for verification and click on ‘Locate centre’.
• You will then see a page that has all the information about the different enrolment centres near you. Visit the nearest centre for the correction process.
• Take the original Aadhar card and a document for your date of birth proof. You can carry your birth certificate in this regard.
• Fill in the correct date of birth information in the Update Aadhar card form.
• The enrolment centre official will take your biometric information to verify your identity.
• After you pay the processing fee of Rs. 25, the official will give you an acknowledgement slip. The slip will contain the URN that you can use to check the status of your request.

How to Update/Change Your Mobile Number in Aadhaar Card:
There are instances where people are no longer using the mobile number that was registered with UIDAI. A person can update/change his mobile number in Aadhaar by following these steps:

Step 1: Visit the Aadhaar Enrolment/Update Centre
Step 2: Fill the Aadhaar Update Form
Step 3: Enter only your current mobile number in the form
Step 4: You need not mention your previous mobile number
Step 5: You do not have to provide any proof for updating your mobile number
Step 6: The executive will register your request

How to Update/Change Name in Aadhaar Card:

This facility is helpful for those who have different names in their PAN and Aadhaar due to which both documents cannot be linked. One more method to check the status of the Aadhar card is through the mobile number of the applicant. But again it has to be kept in mind that the mobile number provided by the applicant should be verified first. Let us have a look at the various steps through which the mobile number of the applicant can easily be verified:

Step 1 : Go to UIDAI’S official website.
Step 2 : At the bottom of the screen, select the option ‘Aadhaar Services’ which displays a link to ‘Enrolment/Download E- Aadhaar Update’.
Step 3 :The applicant then gets automatically redirected to the Aadhaar Kiosk upon clicking on the above mentioned option.
Step 4 : One can find a number of options on the screen such as Aadhaar enrolment, updating of Aadhaar and status check.
Step 5 : You then need to click on the ‘Verify Email/Mobile’ option that appears on the right side of the page.
Step 6 : Upon doing so, the applicant gets automatically redirected to a particular page where he will be asked to verify the mobile number provided by him.
Step 7 : After that, one needs to type in certain details such as the 12 digit Aadhar number and either email ID or mobile number.
Step 8 : A security code will flash on the screen. Enter that code and click on the option ‘Generate Verification Code’.
Step 9 : A verification code is then immediately sent on the given mobile number. Enter the verification code received on the screen.
Step 10 : Lastly, click on ‘Verify’ option that appears at the bottom of the screen to complete the verification process.

In case you do not want to avail this service online, you can simply visit an Aadhar Centre and find out your Aadhaar/Enrolment number by providing your biometric details.
