Emoluments: Emoluments in the form of Time Related Continuity

Allowance(TRCA) is paid to GDS.The following minimum TRCA shall be payable

to different categories of GDS after engagement: -

Eligibility for the Post of Gramin Dak Sevak Recruitment:

AGE

1. Minimum age:18 years

3. Age will be determined as on the last date of submission of  application as per notification. 

4.Permissible relaxations in Upper age limit for different categories are as under:-

Note:-1 There will be no relaxation in upper age limit to EWS candidates. However, the persons belonging to EWS who are not covered under the scheme of reservation for SC, ST and OBC shall get 10% reservation in engagement to the GDS posts. The instructions issued by the Department vide no.19-11/97-ED & TRG dated 27.11.1997, No. 17-08/2017-GDS dated 26.02.2019and No. 17-09/2019-GDS dated 26.02.2019providing for adequate representation of SC/ST/OBC communities, Persons with Disability and Economically Weaker Sections (EWSs) respectively will continue to apply. The permissible disability for personswith Disabilitywill be as given below in GDS posts:-

Educational Qualification

Secondary School Examination pass certificate of 10th standard having passed in Mathematics and English (having been studied as compulsory or elective subjects) conducted by any recognized Board of School Education by the Government of India/State Governments/ Union Territories in India shall be a mandatory educational qualification for all approved categories of GDS. Compulsory knowledge of Local Language The candidate should have studied the local languagei.e. (Name of Local language) at least up to 10th standard [as compulsory or elective subjects]. 

Knowledge of Cycling

Knowledge of Cycling is a pre-requisite condition for all GDS posts. In case of a candidate having knowledge of riding a scooter or motor cycle, that may be considered as knowledge of cycling also. The candidate has to submit a declaration to this effectin Annexure-III.

 Method of Submission of Application and Fee

Application can be submitted online only at https://indiapostgdsonline.gov.in. Applications received through any other mode shall not be entertained.

Fee: A fee of Rs.100/-/-(Rupees one hundred only) is to be paid by the applicants for all posts notified in the chosen Division. However, payment of fee is exempted for all female candidates, SC/ST candidates, PwD candidates and Transwomen candidates.

How to apply:- 

(a) Candidate who desires to apply online will have to register himself / herself in the portal through https://indiapostgdsonline.gov.in with the following basic details to obtain the Registration Number:-

i) Name (In capital letter as per X class certificate Marks Memo including spaces)

ii) Father’s Name / Mother’s Name

iii) Mobile Number

iv) Email ID

v) Date of Birth

vi) Gender

vii) Community

viii) PwD – Type of Disability – (HH/OH/VH)- Percentage of disability

ix) State in which Xth class passed

x) Language studied in Xth class

xi) Year of Passing Xth class

xii) Scanned Passport Photograph

(b) Only one Registration is allowed for one candidate for schedule 1 & 2 in a calendar Year. The same registration number should be used for submission of applications.Once registered the same mobile number will not be allowed for further Registrations of any other candidate. In case any duplicate Registration is found by altering the basic details, the candidature relating to all such Registrations will be removed for consideration of selection.Any candidate who forgot the registration number can retrieve the registration number through option ‘Forgot registration’.

(c) The candidates must have own active email id and mobile number. 

(d) Selection of Division and exercising preferences:-

The candidate can select only one Division for submission of his/her candidature for all the eligible posts of the Selected Division.The candidate has to validate his/her details by giving Registration number and OTP sent to the registered mobile number. On selecting the Division, a list of all eligible posts (based on community and age) will be displayed against which candidate has to give his/her preference.Preference and option once exercised /submitted by the candidate is final and will not be changed under any circumstances. Hence, candidates should exercise due care. Candidate will not be considered for a post, for which he/she has not given/indicated his/her preference. However, only one post will be offered among all the posts  in a notification if she/he has applied for one or more posts in any one Division under any Circle.

Example: - If a candidate opts for five posts with preference post1, post2, post3, post4, post5 etc. and selected as meritorious in more than one post, the firstpost in the order of preference, against which he/she is found most suitable, will be offered and the candidature for all the remaining posts will be forfeited. However, basing on the merit, the candidate gets choice of post and on offering such post, his other preferences will be forfeited for consideration for other preferences.

Procedure of Fee Payment:-

i. Applicants, except exempted category of candidate, should pay a fee of Rs.100/- (Rupees one hundred) for all posts within the chosen Division. Candidate who requires to make the payment of fee may pay the fee through online mode of payment using the link provided for payment. All recognized Credit/Debit cards and Net Banking facility/ UPI can be used for this purpose.Charges applicable for usage of Debit/Credit cards and net banking as per the rules from time to time will be levied to the candidates. Fee may also be paid at any Head Post Office in India.

ii. For making the payment of fee the candidate should refer the Registration Number.

iii. Fee once paid will not be refunded. Hence, candidate is requested to ensure his/her eligibility for applying to particular Division before making the fee payment.

iv. Candidates who are exempted from payment of fee may apply online directly

Uploading of documents:-

The candidates must upload the following documents in the formats and sizes as prescribed. Hence, it is advised to keep the scanned documents ready in softcopy form before applying online.

Registration Instructions

• It should be noted that candidates are requested to ensure their eligibility before registering in portal.

• Registration is mandatory for applying online.

  • In the Registration, the mobile number and email ID are to be unique and also requires validation for mapping as a registered email/mobile number.      

  For this purpose OTP will be sent to the given mobile number and email ID without which the number cannot be registered and candidate cannot  make a Registration.

• For registering the application, the candidate required to submit the following basic details.

1. Mobile Number: Candidate has to enter 10 digit mobile number.

2. Email: Candidate has to enter a valid Email ID.

• Candidate should provide a valid mobile number and email through which he/she will receive further course communication. It is mandatory that candidate should keep his/her mobile number and email in active condition during the course of recruitment process as there is no provision for change of these details. Deduplication shall not be allowed. Only one Registration is allowed per candidate

3. Applicant’s Name: Candidate has to enter his/her name as per 10th class certificate.

4. Father’s Name/Mother’s Name: Candidate has to enter his/her Father’s name/Mother’s name as per 10th class certificate.

5. Date of Birth: Candidate has to enter his/her Date of Birth as per 10th class certificate.

6. Gender: Candidate has to enter his/her Gender.

6(a). Select (In Case of Transgender): This field will be enabled only if the candidate selects Transgender above.

7. Community: Community should be selected as per community certificate.

8. Circle in which 10th class passed: Candidate has to enter respective postal circle according to the state passed. The list of states and corresponding circles can be viewed by clicking on the link “click here to know your circle”.

9. Year of passing 10th Class: Candidate has to enter his/her year of passing 10th Class.

10. Aadhaar Number: Candidate has to enter 12 digit unique Aadhaar Number.

11. Are You Person with Disability: Candidate has to select Yes/No according to his/her disability status.

11(a). Type of Disability: This field will be enabled only if the candidate selects “yes” in above field.

11(a)(i). Select PWD SubCategory: Candidate has to select respective PWD sub category.

12. Languages Studied in 10th class: Candidate has to select the languages that he/she studied in 10th class. One can select multiple languages here.

13. Whether Employed: Candidate has to select yes/no according to his/her employment status.

13(a). Whether employer NOC is available: This field will be enabled if the candidate selects “yes” in above field.

14 & 15. Candidate needs to upload his/her latest photo and signature in jpg/jpeg format with the following specifications.

Photo: size – not exceeding 50kb

Signature: size – not exceeding 20kb

• Candidate needs to enter all the mandatory fields in Registration.

In case of any modifications required, changes can be made in the same screen before submission. After submission there will not be any provision for subsequent editing of data. On satisfactory confirmation of entered data, candidate requires to consent the undertakings by clicking the checkboxes for submission of Registration data.

• Candidates should produce the PWD certificate as per the eligibility at the time of original certificates verification if got selected.

• Candidate requires to Register only once there should not be any duplicate registration. mobile number and email id should be unique for Registation, ie 

mobile number/email id given for others registration should not be used again for other Registraions. Registering data of the same candidate by altering any of the parameters will be considered as duplicate Registration and is subjected to de duplication process and is liable for cancellation of candidature.

• Candidate needs to submit correct information during Registration. If any false information found, his/her candidature will be cancelled.

Eligibility A. AGE:- The minimum and maximum age for the purpose of engagement to Gramin Dak Sevaks posts shall be between 18 and 40 years as on the last date of submission of application through online. The maximum age shall be relaxable by 03 (three) years to those belonging to OBC categories and 05 (five) years in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST. [10 years for PH above the respective category]
B. EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION:- The candidate should pass 10th standard  from approved state boards by the respective State Govt. / Central Govt.  The state wise list  of approved boards is at Annexure ‘A’. No weightage will be given for possessing any qualification(s) higher than the mandatory educational qualification. The Candidate passed Xth class examination in first attempt will be treated as meritorious against  those passed compartmentally.
C. COMPUTER KNOWLEDGE:- The candidate should have computer knowledge and will be required to furnish basic computer training certificate for at least 60 days from a recognized Computer Training Institute. Certificates from Central Government/ State Government/ University/ Boards etc., will also be acceptable for this purpose. This requirement of basic computer knowledge certificate shall be relaxable in cases where a candidate has studied computer as a subject in Class X or Class XII or higher educational qualification provided the candidate submits a certificate of Class X or Class XII or higher educational qualification in which he/she has studied computer as a subject.
D. RESIDENCE:- The candidate selected for the post of GDS BPM  must mandatorily take  up his/her residence in the Branch Post Office village within one month after selection  but before engagement as Gramin Dak Sevak Branch Postmaster. The candidate shall submit a declaration to this effect in the application. The candidate selected for the post of other than GDS BPM should reside in post village/delivery jurisdiction.
E. ADEQUATE MEANS OF LIVELIHOOD:- The candidate applying for the post shall note that he/ she will have adequate means of livelihood to support himself/ herself and his/ her family from other sources so as to have to supplement his/her income. However, this shall not be a pre requisite for candidates for the purpose. Selected candidate shall be required to comply with this condition within 30 days after selection but before engagement. The candidate shall furnish an undertaking in the application itself that he/ she has other sources of income besides the allowances to be paid by the Government for adequate means of livelihood for himself/ herself and his/her family. The candidate after selection as Gramin Dak Sevak shall have to give the undertaking again before engagement.
F. FURNISHING OF SECURITY:- The candidate applying for the post shall note that he/she shall furnish security amount of Rs. 25,000/- in the event of his/her engagement for the post of BPM and Rs. 10,000/- for other categories. The security shall be in the form of Fidelity Guarantee bond or National Savings Certificate pledged to the Department of Posts in the name of the President of India.
G. ACCOMODATION FOR LOCATING BRANCH POST OFFICE:- The candidate selected for the engagement of BPM shall have to provide centrally located accommodation in the Branch Post Office village within 30 days for use as Post Office premises and the expenditure of the hiring if any needs to be borne by the candidates.
H. No person holding an elective office will be considered for engagement to the post.
I. The candidate selected as Gramin Dak Sevak shall not engage in any activity with any outside agency which would be detrimental to the business or interest of the Post Office.
J. Past experience or service of any kind will not be considered for selection.
K. Cycling knowledge is a pre-requisite condition for GDS posts attached with outdoor duties.
L. A Gramin Dak Sevak shall be outside the Civil Service of the Union and governed by GDS (Conduct and Engagement) Rules 2011 as amended from time to time.
M. SELECTION CRITERIA:-.
1. Selection will be made as per the automatic generated merit list as per the rules based on the candidates online submitted applications.
2. No weightage will be given for higher educational qualification. Only marks obtained in 10th standard of approved Boards aggregated to percentage to the accuracy of 4 decimals will be the criteria for finalizing the selection.  Passing   of all the subjects as per the respective approved board norms is mandatory for taking candidate into account for calculating the merit.
3. In case candidates get the same marks, the merit order would be taken as DOB(higher age as merit), ST female, SC female, OBC female, UR female, ST  Male, SC Male, OBC  male, UR male.
4. Candidate can opt any five choice of posts with preference of priority from the Circle/Circles applied. In case if the candidate is selected in all choices the lowest priority preference will be retained and all other candidatures will be forfeited.
Ex : If a candidate opts for five posts with preference post1, post2, post3, post4, post5 etc and selected as meritorious in more than one post, the post in the order of preference will be offered and the candidature for all the remaining posts will be forfeited.
5. In case candidate willfully uploads wrong documents/information and unnecessary documents, his candidature will not be considered. Similarly in case the candidate enter marks erroneously either high or low with reference to marks list uploaded then the candidature will also not be considered.
6. The candidate will get an SMS on his provisional selection on the prescribed date after selection. Mere getting SMS or any other communication on selection will not entitle the candidate to claim for regular selection/appointment. The final selection/appointment will be based on satisfactory completion of verification and genuineness of all educational & other documents produced by the candidates by the concerned authorities.
a) Department is not responsible for non-receipt of email/SMS by the candidate due to any specific reason or without any reason arising out of providers services and other dependencies. However, a physical communication in regard to provisional selection intimation will be sent by respective recruiting authorities  in due course as per the selection procedure.
7. Candidate can view his/her result status in the website by providing the reference number till the results are announced. once results are declared and post is filled, it can be viewed in the results status which provides all details of the candidates applied for that post.
How to apply:- Candidate who desires to apply online will have to register himself in the portal through https://indiapsot.gov.in or https://appost.in/gdsonline with the basic details to obtain the Registration Number.
1. For registering the candidature, the candidate should have the following essential data.
i) Name (In capital letter as per X class certificate Marks Memo including spaces)
ii) Father Name
iii) Mobile Number
iv) Date of Birth
v) Gender
vi) Community
vii) PH – Type of Disability – (HH/OH/VH)- Percentage of disability
viii) State in which Xth  class passed
ix) Board in which Xth  class passed
x) Year of Passing Xth class
xi) Xth  Class Certificate Number
2. Any candidate will be allowed to register only one time in the portal. With this registration number he may apply to any of the Circles or any number of optional posts. Candidate should not attempt willful duplicate registrations since duplicate registration entitles disqualification of the registration.
Fee Payment:-
1. Applicant of category OC/OBC Male should pay a fee of Rs. 100/- (Rupees one hundred) at any Head Post Office. Candidate who requires to make the payment has to visit any Head Post Office to make the payment. For making the payment candidate should inform Registration Number at the PO Counter.
2. However, fee payment is exempted for all Female and SC/ST candidates. They may apply online directly through the provided link in the Website.
3. For applying online candidate should submit the application by providing information of Registration Number (and Fee payment Number once, in case of fee to be paid) to proceed to fill up the subsequent information. Documents once uploaded against one registration number will remain in the server hence for submission of subsequent posts or for other Circles, candidates need not upload any documents further.
